Our Favourite Summer Outdoor Activities in Lincolnshire
Explore Lincoln Castle
Built in 1608 by William the Conqueror, Lincoln Castle is home to the original Magna Carta. This magnificent castle holds an imposing Victorian prison and you can explore the castle’s towers and dungeons via the Medieval Wall Walk. Entry to the castle grounds is free, there is a fee to enter the castle.
Before you visit, take a detour to one of the regular Lincolnshire farmers’ markets to stock up on tasty local sausages, cheese and artisan bakes then enjoy a picnic in the castle grounds. You can also purchase refreshments from the cafe on the old prison’s ground floor.
Enjoy a Guided City Tour
No city visit is complete without an informative walking tour. Lincoln Guided Tours provides fascinating tours run by experienced and knowledgeable guides who will take you on a journey of discovery through Lincoln’s famous sites, including the historic cathedral and Steep Hill.
Walking tours run daily during the summer months for a small fee (children under 12 go free), no booking is needed, just turn up at the Visitor Centre on Castle Hill at 11 am.
Go Wild at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park
Home to one of the world’s largest parrot rescues and two regal Bengal tigers, this impressive, award-winning wildlife park is well worth a visit. Set in over 25 acres, there is plenty to see and do at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park, including a host of animal experiences that let you get up close and personal with some of the world’s most endangered species.
You can grab a bite to eat at the Rainforest Diner or pack a picnic and dine al fresco.
