Gunby Hall and Gardens
A visit to Gunby Hall and Gardens is a chance to follow in the footsteps of many a famous fellow. In its heyday, this Victorian ‘William and Mary’ red brick house welcomed lots of big names – from the Wedgewood family to Tennyson, and Rudyard Kipling to Charles Darwin. Today, this National Trust property is loved for its three floors of collection pieces, modest-sized rooms and exquisite gardens.

Doddington Hall and Gardens
This is a gorgeous example of a fine late Elizabethan Mansion. Less Downton Abbey, more much-loved family home, this award-winning property is alive with history. With attention to detail and charm by the bucketload, will it be the furniture, weaponry, paintings, kitchen garden, gift shops or amusing stories you’ll love the most? A visit to Doddington offers unique insight into the challenges of looking after such an estate in the 21st century.
Location: 10 miles from Washingborough Hall, 24 minutes by car.
Belton House
Described as ‘the perfect country house’, this 17th century Lincolnshire National Trust property is spellbinding. Stately home enthusiasts will, of course, love the 36 acres of formal gardens and 1300 acres of deer park. But equally, the property itself is home to many talking points, including a large library and a collection of fine silver.
Location: 24 miles from Washingborough Hall, 45 minutes by car
Tattershall Castle
This 15th-century red brick castle is just begging to be explored. From the dizzying 149 steps of the spiral staircase, to beautiful stained glass and period art, Tattershall has real allure. Take in the spectacular moated 15th-century red brick castle set in beautiful grounds. Guided tours are highly recommended.
